There are so many things to see and do. The Leadville/Lake County Visitor Center in downtown Leadville is a great resource for maps, menus, brochures, and information about area attractions.

Did you know, Leadville is the highest incorporated city in North America?  It’s sitting at 10,152 feet above sea level!  Take a drive on the Top of the Rockies Scenic and Historic Byway.  I promise this is a great way to take in Lake County’s amazing views.

Did you know that the East Side Mining District is a 20 square mile area covered with mines.  These mines were in use from 1860 to 1999.  The mines produced gold, silver, lead, molybdenum, zinc, and copper.  In summer, you can hike, or drive the county roads that go through the East Side Mining District.  In winter, many of these roads are perfect for skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.

Remember, Leadville is fantastic for outdoor exploration.  Trails near Leadville will keep you busy and active all year!

Check out the Highest Golf Course in North America

Sitting at 9,680 feet, Mt. Massive Golf Course is the highest golf course in North America!  Set in the open spaces of the Arkansas River Valley near the river’s headwaters, ringed by the tallest mountains in the state, surrounded by ranchland and forest, it has a truly spectacular setting.  This Course offers golfers the chance to tee off on greens surrounded by beautiful ranchland and forests with towering peaks on the horizon.

Remember, Thinner air at higher elevations enables golf balls to fly faster and farther.
