Slope-goers in Colorado can take a free snowcat ride to 13,010 feet

The second-oldest ski area in Colorado, which is also the second-oldest in the United States, opened for the 2022-2023 season on February 8.

The “Ridge Cat” at Loveland Ski Area goes up to a height of 13,010 feet on the Continental Divide and gives access to the most difficult terrain on the mountain.

This snowcat can carry up to 18 people at once, and the best part is that skiers and snowboarders with a lift ticket or season pass can ride it for free. Most of the time, cat skiing is an expensive add-on or separate activity. For example, each person pays $575 to go cat skiing at Monarch Mountain.

The snowcat operations happen from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday, if the weather is good enough.
